Senior Support Worker

Salary: 25k-30k / 36+ hours per week

 We have an exciting opportunity for a brilliant senior support worker, to join our supportive team in a brand new service. 

Eunoia-Living offers Specialist High Intensity Forensic and non-forensic, 24-hour residential Nursing care.

The service is aimed at individuals between the ages of 18-65, who has a diagnosis of Mental Illness, Learning Disability and/or Personality Disorder and are entitled to 117 Aftercare.


 Locating in Skelmersdale, comprising of same sex 3 bedroom bungalow.
The aim of the service is to reduce the number of patients needing hospital admission in a forensic setting and to promote independence and recovery. The service will work closely with the MOJ, CMHT, MAPPA, Probation and other agencies to ensure effective management of service user’s needs, risks and behaviours that challenge.

Eunoia-Living will provide a Person Centred Package of care that is safe and supportive in a homely environment. It will promote empowerment, independence and choice, whilst enhancing our Service User’s daily living skills, enabling individuals to Be integrated into to society and eventually will move on to a less supportive setting. You will help our Service Users identify their aspirations, and work with them to create plans that help them achieve these. You will also help your colleagues to deliver on the plans you’ve created to achieve excellence. Our aim is to support our service users to live their day to day lives as independently as possible.


The team will tell you that no two days are ever the same because everything we do is “person centred” around our service users, Like our team, we’re sure you’ll find the role ever so rewarding.


About our team


All new employees will receive full mandatory training via the company’s induction programme. All staff will be trained in Autism Awareness, RAID approach Skills and CAT therapy based skills, emotion regulation and de-escalation skills. All support workers have achieved, or are working towards an appropriate NVQ qualification.

As this is a new service, there will plenty of room for development and growth giving our staff opportunity for promotions and professional achievements.  

  
Working hours


We provide 24-hour support to our service users each day and every day. You will work on a rota basis and take your turn working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our Service user's. However, we will also take into account your own needs and will be flexible were possible.

Expectations of the role 

  

  • To work  support of the Home Manager/ Duty Nurse  in the implementing and evaluation of care, and to report as appropriate.
  • To supervise care staff and participate in the delivery of care to the service users.
  • To complete audits and comprehensive risk assessments and safeguarding reports 
  • To provide effective leadership to staff on shift through supervision, support & mentoring and delegation in all aspects of care.
  • To be able to complete physical observations and other tasks within their skill level.
  • To communicate effectively at all times within the team, with other health care professionals, and the involvement of the resident, their family, carers/ visitors
  • To work weekends.
  • Occasional On Call Duties 



Essential Requirements

  

To make sure our service users are well supported, it’s important that you have extensive experience working within a Forensic or Adult Residential mental health or Learning Disabilities environment and have experience with challenging behaviours. 


  • have a minimum of one years experience working within a senior position.   
  • You have a great understanding of professional boundaries, responsibility for safeguarding, risk assessment, confidentiality and have experience in case management.
  • Hold a relevant NVQ Level qualification or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge in safeguarding adults and children and reporting 
  • Experience in medication administration and adverse reactions 
  • experience in basic life support
  • Experience in crisis management 
  • experience in managing staff and excellent professional communication skills

Registered Mental Health/ Learning Disability Nurse

What do we need from you?

As a member of our clinical team, you will ensure our service users receive safe and effective, Person centred care. Your experience and expertise will be used to assist our service users in using their own strengths to improve their own well-being. You will lead a team of HCA’s with the support of our registered Manager and senior HCA.


We provide 24-hour support to our service users each day and every day. You will work on a rota basis and take your turn working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our Service user's. However, we will also take into account your own needs and will be flexible were possible.

You will be NMC registered with at least 12 months or more experience in your chosen field.

We are seeking professionalism and commitment to delivering personalised care. We expect all our nurses to share our dedication in supporting our service users on their pathway to recovery, whilst showing compassion and motivation to support our service users on their journey. You will need to be flexible, having the ability to adapt to your surroundings, whilst demonstrating the ability to maintain clear professional boundaries within a home setting.

Each plan will look to meet individual potential and long-term goals, making sure they meet safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.


Your role will be key to promoting the physical and emotional well-being of our service users in all aspects of their lives. You will be involved in:

  • Providing physical and mental stimulation for our residents by taking part in social and recreational activities, on a one-to-one and group basis.
  • Assisting or encouraging service users with personal care activities such as washing, personal hygiene and dressing.
  • Assisting with Planning meal times and cooking 
  •  Ensuring service users' independence, dignity and respect, by delivering the very best person-centred care.
  •  Helping to maintain accurate records and risk assessments 
  • Promoting health and well-being 
  • maintaining a safe and secure environment, in accordance to health and safety/COSH/fire regulations  
  • Undertaking regular ongoing training and E-learning

  • You must be able to maintain confidentiality and have experience in case management.

  • Quality orientation
